Seriously... I was only joking!

I recently left a comment at another pastor's blog site that offended one of his congregants. Because I am just now learning to use technology I had no idea that others could read my comment to a brother. I was just kidding around and we both got a good laugh out of it- which leads me to this week's blog.
As we grow in Christ we should take the Lord more serious and, at the same time learn to take ourselves less serious.
I have had the opportunity to meet some of the most godly men/ women of our day and I was surprised to find out how "down to earth" they were. Very funny, very human, very comfortable in their own skin.

Before I started reading the bible through each year I think I was afraid that this would make me into an uptight religious prude but the opposite is actually true.
I really am learning to take the Lord more serious while I take myself less serious.

He knows that we are like grass- here today and gone tomorrow.
He knows our frame that we are dust.
He knows that we are like little children and He doesn't take us too serious.
If He doesn't take us too serious, we shouldn't either.

One more thing, have you ever noticed how little children loved to be near Jesus?
Why is that?
Little kids love adults that can still be "big kids" every now and then.

I'll close with one of my favorite jokes/riddles as a boy-

Q. Why don't cannibals eat clowns?
A. Because they taste funny.
Ha,Ha, Ha.
P.S. Sorry Pastor Shad and fbc today folks, I was only joking.
